Hi  
Can I make show a tempo marking like quaver = quaver (but with notation) when changing from 9/8 to 3/4 for example. Thanks David

Add a tempo mark, don't display the reference note and in the caption field, use a special text sequence like $(S1 5) = $(S1 5). You can change the "S1" into "S2" or "S3" to change the size of the notes.  
There is more information in the manual Notation>Text commands (Text advanced display).
You could also add a text object to the staff, and mix characters from the SToccata font ("e" will output a quaver) and a regular font for the "=".
