HA 9.9.0j Mac: Can't open files from within HA or import any files!   BernfieldIssues.zip

Hello,

After no success last year with several iterations of v9.9.0 under MacOS 10.14.6, I decided to wait and install 9.9.0j into MacOS 10.15.2.

But it STILL DOESN'T WORK.

I now have the following show-stopping problems, which I also had in mid-2019:

1. If I try to open files using File Menu/Open... it opens a Finder window at the top level of the HA "Contents" folder, and all my Finder sidebar shortcuts are *greyed out* and cannot be selected. In addition, in the main window I cannot select anything. I can use the arrows to expand folders but still cannot select anything to open. (see attached image).

2. If I try to import an .xml or .mid file, I have the same problems as above if I try to do it from File menu/Import in HA.

3. If I try to use "Open with..." from the Finder for .xml and .mid files, I get errors that tell me that I cannot open these types of files (see attached images).

As I mentioned above, I had these issues last year in a previous version of 9.9.0, but I figured they would be fixed by now. Anyone else having these issues? They make it impossible to use the software.

I have also attached the xml and mid files I was trying to open to this post.

Please advise - thanks for your attention.

Bonjour,

Try dragging the file into HA, or double-clicking it in the Finder (assuming the latter normally works for opening files; I'm not a Mac user).  HA's File > Open command may be drawing on a Mac OS component that has permissions problems.

There is a similar bug in certain Windows applications under Windows 10.  The Windows component they use for opening files works the first time but hangs every time thereafter.

Just posted about this same issue. My workaround is typing the first few letters of the file name and clicking "open." Not ideal.

Hi,

This happens sometime on my side (macOS 10.14.6 too) but not each time.

When this happens macOS don't focus on his Open or Save dialog box.
I hit two times Command+Tab and I got the focus.

Best regards
