Please follow carefully these instructions:
A If the download doesn't start
automatically:
Download the installable archive
B Ask for the file to be saved, then copy
it in an easily reachable folder
For instance, open the download
folder, then drag and drop the archive ( ) to your "Documents" folder
C Change permissions
Right-click the archive and,
from the properties window, activate the "Execute" permission for
this file
D Ensure that your can run scripts from the file explorer
I they can't, the script will be loaded in a text
editor (gedit, mousepad...) and it won't work, the computer even
being unresponsive for a while.
So, edit your file manager settings from its main
menu.
Usually, from the "Settings" or
"Preferences" menu option in the "Behavior" tab, activate "Ask" or "Enable script execution".
For instance, on Ubuntu 17.04:
(If it's not possible on your system, open a terminal on the folder
that contains the .run and enter
bash
then skip to step G.)
E Double-click the installable
archive
F If you are asked for it, select
"Run in Terminal"
G Follow the instructions, and let the program install additional libraries if required ('Y' or 'A' key).
The program should run automatically once installed.
From then you should be able to run
the application either from the system application menu, or through
the icon that should have appeared on your desktop, if this feature
is available in your version of Linux.
H (Optional) If the application can't
start:
• Ensure that it's not already
running:
Terminal: ps
-ux
find the application process id if it exists
• If
necessary, kill the process through
kill <process
id>
•
Run the application through:
"/usr/bin/"
and check the error messages that appear on the console.
Note:
If you wish to force the 32-bit version of the program to install on a 64-bit Linux:
At step D, open a terminal and run the installable archive (.run) through this command:
bash -- --force32
