That's super good to know, Muddle! I tried looking for the sing with no delay script in the HA files but no avail. How does it even work? It doesn't clear those caches cause it turns a track into a digital track. So how does it even work?

On my computers, at step 5 instrumental parts are played, while voices remain silent.

I tested your procedure and don't reproduce the bug on HA 9.9.3 nor HA 9.9.4.RC1. Maybe it depends on the file, the language, or whatever else...
You were right to narrow the problem to the minimal demonstration and to report it to Olivier. Did you tried with HA 9.9.4 RC1 version ?

From this link:

you can download a zip file that contains a very short .myr file (just 4 bars) and a mp4 video showing what happens on my systems.

I also tried using HA 9.9.4 RC2, and results are just the same.

No news yet from Olivier about this problem, I'll keep you posted.

I don't reproduce the problem on your file.

I can reproduce (with your file) one one computer, not the other. There are setup differences.
Need more research this afternoon.

I have found something, which does not mean I understand.

On the Virtual Singer "Theater Pallet", the is a figure down in the middle. 0 means "no deferred", 100 "fullly deferred" (in French: avant/après).

By default it is set at 50. I had it at 0, no idea why, But the problem reported by Max seems to show up only with a value above zero.

Somehow, this must have a relationship with velocity, I'll look further tomorrow.

Hi,  that offset is for the time HA pre-renders the virtual voices before starting play.
If you computer is fast enough a zero setting means HA  will start  play immediately while the render of the staff(s)   proceeds in the background.
If you computer is too slow or there are too many voices,  this will not be possible.   So you it is common to have some  setting that allows HA time to get the rendering partly done or even completely done before starting play.

I see; this may explain that often, a score which has a note and lyric at time 0 will omit or shorten that note.

Perhaps setting this parm to zero will simply hide the problem Max signals, and not contribute to the solution.
