It is simply a matter of whether you need the extra features. The "myrscript" capability of Harmony is very powerful.

Same sort of answer. Before making a decision, you have to list all your needs. For example : - Do you often print scores and attach much importance to their layout and appearance ? - Do you need to import from other programmes through scripts ? - Are you ineterested in the incredible power of Myrscript scripting language ? - Etc... I suggest you take a look at the synopsis of differences between HA and MA. It's here I went through the same hesitation before I bought a licence for HA. Actually, it didn't take me long to make up my mind : a couple of hours...

| Same answer for me. In fact I didn't buy Melody before upgrading to Harmony. THe comparison of features is convincing enough.

Hi I started with Melody but soon upgraded to Harmony. So really the same answer. One other thing to note is that a lot of the upgrade features will only apply to Harmony Colin

I use harmony... There is a lot of arguments why to take this choice. One argument more: If somebody buys harmony directly, the chances to develop own work power are much greater!

I think someone must support Melody Assistant here. It all depends on what you want to do with it. Melody has served me quite well for a long time, even with the simple GMMPBase. If it does everything that you expect of it then there is no urgent reason to change to Harmony. I agree with the others that Harmony has more extras, but I would like to point out that writing music first and foremost has to do with writing the right notes in the right sequence (Melody does that just as well) and not with plug-ins and scripts. I now have Harmony (in fact I received it as a gift) and I am very happy with it but in my opinion there is nothing wrong with Melody Assistant. I wrote many hours of music with it quite happily. You will have to decide for yourself depending on your needs and expectations. A.

The best advice I can give is: Try it out. If you can use the extra features of Harmony well then this is your choice. If you dont need these features you should stay to Melody. Nobody but you can make the decission. best regards Lutz

| You're totally right. It is not a question of criticizing MA, which is great too, but rather of pointing out the differences (and personal uses) that made us choose HA. To imitate -poorly- Geoge Orwell, I should say that MA is excellent but HA is "more excellent".
