Bar numbers only displayed to half the score length

Hello, I did ask a similar question a couple of years ago, which contributors here helped me with, but this is actually different. I wanted to attached the file, but it's too big. Perhaps someone out there might be able to give me some pointers though? The piece is 69 bars long, only about the first 40 bars are numbered... whether in scroll or page views.. This is the only file I have with this problem. I have sought but have not found... Please guide me if you can! Many thanks... Hoppy

If you display the bar numbers (with ctrl-t or in scroll mode) you'll see that, starting measure 40, the bar numbers are between parentheses. This means they are real numbers, but not the display numbers. This is since, on that bar 40, "Numbering" is set to -1289. Apparently, the display numbers are hidden when negative. Perhaps there is a good reason for that, but I'd guess that actually you don't want negative numbers to show there. When you change numbering on bar 40 to "0" all remains as expected, I think.

Hello! Yes, this works! Thank you! To begin with, I changed Bar number 40 on the main view from -1289 to 40 and all following bars renumbered correctly. What is strange though, is that this happenend without my knowledge!! Must have been sleep-walking? I do however have to tweak the individual page views for different instruments... But it works, so please accept my Profuse thanks! Hoppy

| Better to set it to zero. That way it will automatically be renumbered if you insert or delete a bar in measures 1-39. Otherwise, it will always be numbered 40, whether it is actually 40 or not.

| Hello again! And thanks for your comment. When you say "better set it to zero", I don't quite get it; if I had reset bar 40 to 0, wouldn't something strange have happened to bar numbers 1-39? For example, negative bar numbers This may be just theoretical now, since the original problem "seems to have been" solved... but doubt lingers!

In any case, the bar number set that way affects only the target bar and the following ones, not the preceding ones. Setting to zero is an indication to reset the displayed number to the real number, since a bar should not be shown as 0. Actually, I'll not support what Paul says, setting a displayed number to the real number is also a reset. In scroll mode, the real numbers are shown between parenthesis after the "displayed bar number". When you set the displayed bar number to zero, it means you align the displayed bar number to the real one, not that you actually number it zero.
