Title: Selecting textbox "behind" staff lyrics
Post by Johanovski on Oct 12th, 2021, 1:43pm
Hi everyone,

I'm having troubles trying to select two text boxes located close to a staff with lyrics (screenshot attached). No matter where I try clicking, but there seems to be no way for me to select either of the text boxes shown in the picture.

For the top text box (the one with the tempo), the box doesn't seem to react to my clicks in any way. For the bottom one (the one with the swing effect), when I try clicking there I always end up "entering" into the lyrics staff, but I have no way of moving, or editing it.

Is there any way to see some sort of "list" of all the text objects that exist in a document, or is there a tool that I can use to explicitly select those, or any other way I could manage to select them?

Cheers in advance!

For the tempo, you could try two things:

1).  Edit > Select > Tempo   then click in the green box which appears.

2).  Staves > Edit related objects (7th down)
If it's in red, it means it's not associated with a staff area.
There is an option to edit it.

For the text box, you could try temporarily moving the staff upward using the red staff icon triangle.  This would work with a Free object, but not with a Text box pinned to a note or rest location

Option 2) was just what I was looking for, thanks!! :)

And, indeed, all the textboxes and tempo changes I couldn't select were marked in red, as they were not associated with any staff area.

Thanks! :D
